Welcome to our website for Omega Equestrian. This business is the culmination of many decades of following my passion for horses. Just a girl who loved horses and my chosen discipline of dressage, who had to scrape and struggle to even own her first horse, but over time, hard work and discipline, grew into becoming a true all-round horsewoman and trainer of these majestic creatures.
Breeding with Holsteiner based bloodlines and creating NZ Warmbloods for 15 years and proudly producing a Licenced stallion Lucero, (his beautiful dam Jessie is my homepage model). Leo was an immensely kind stallion and first-class teacher who made sure I developed my light hand and understanding of classical training. The joy of training many of his progeny to winning at inhand shows as they developed into lovely young horses ready to sell on was a highlight of this time. I still gain much pleasure watching them out at shows doing well for their owners.
Breeding and training youngsters was a challenge I felt I fulfilled, and so I decided in 2018 to refocus and train in equine bodywork and develop my skills in this area. With an already deep passion for good commonsense horsemanship, and a classical style of training it made sense to focus on a well-rounded combination of modalities, classical in-hand training, Anatomical study undertaking dissections, Masterson Method, Reiki, Myofascial release. With each new horse a new opportunity is presented.
A special Lusitano cross called Jennevieve (pictured) challenged all my prior knowledge and set me on a path to help her. In doing so discovering how to better help horses and their owners to decipher compensatory movements causing pain, lameness and dysfunction and how to move forward with a plan to help. Always following vet advice where necessary, but supported initially by correct nutrition, working with a hoof professional with advanced anatomical understanding and other equine professionals as required, I have developed a network of great people and we work as a team to really produce results in a holistic and gentle way. Starting first on the ground teaching about the horses movement and then moving to ridden stage with focus of the rider's ability to work in this framework. A focus of this is to empower horse owners with the understanding of the body of the horse and what it means to be ridden towards a life of soundness rather than degradation of the body. It is a completely bespoke service that can lend itself to many approaches to suit the horse and owner, individual lessons, short rehab stay breaks, retraining using methods of exercise and inhand work. I do offer equine bodywork at owners properties, but now prefer to work here on the property and create a rehab plan for the owners to grow into.
It made complete sense to provide quality supplements and feed to start horses on a rehab plan and also offer other products that would help support the horses natural healing and immunity. Hence the Retail store here at our property in the Bay of Islands NZ, was born. We are growing steadily and have a very loyal local clientele that regularly ask for new products, so the apparel and tack/supplies side of the store has grown from this feedback. I ensure that all products I offer, I have personally used and can recommend wholeheartedly. I am so looking forward to providing these online as well!
I pride myself on providing sound nutrition advice, can offer plans to solve many issues and have a great understanding of our Northland conditions and grasses that challenge many of our horses, especially ones new to the region. There are many good ways to support a regional or even property move, without some of the hazards that I certainly experienced when I first moved here 20 plus years ago!
Thank you for your visit to our online store and please feel free to contact me for any other enquiries you may have.
